Fashion trends 2021: draping.
The draping is
one of the major trends we see in all kinds of garments this summer, from
dresses to skirts of all sizes, not forgetting the precious tops and blouses
worn by this technique.
For those of you who don't already know, draping is a
method used to make the fabric of certain pieces fold on the bias to create
spectacular textures and drape without flying.
Despite being a deeply rooted trend in recent years, it
has nothing new, since it is one of the oldest techniques in the manufacture of
garments, even being found in designs from ancient civilizations such as the
Greek, Roman and the Egyptian. It is one of the first methods in the
history of fashion, initially associated with sophistication, since it
consisted of a more detailed elaboration, reserved only for the suits of high
society.
It is no coincidence that, today, garments that wear
draped fabric are destined for more special occasions. Although, given the
current situation and the new approach to fashion, there are those who decide
to use draped pieces at any time and for any situation.
But the history of draping is not limited to ancient
people, centuries later many designers were inspired by the origin of fashion
as an art to design their creations, such as two of the great names of the 19th
century: the Spanish Mariano Fortuny with her Delphos dress, a clear
allusion to Greek culture and one of the great icons of the moment; or
the Haute Couture designer Madeleine Vionnet, whose work was
closely linked to the Greek style, making draping one of her specialties.

Draped today
After this brief review of the history of fashion, I will
now focus on what may interest you most in terms of summer, the main garments
that follow this classic trend.
In addition to the classic culture of this technique, we
were able to enjoy this trend again during the 90s ,
at which time it focused on the central part of the garment, since, in this
way, it is able to stylize the figure, achieving sharpen the curve of the hip
and visually tapering the waist. It is the best option to uniform a tight
dress but not too tight.
Currently, draped dresses also usually have pleats in the
central part, although they can be located in other areas, making them take on
more prominence in the set, such as on the sleeves or on the chest.
It is also very common to see skirts, either short and at
the height of the knees, with an opening on one of the sides, with draping at
the top of the cut, creating a beautiful wavy fall.
Many tops and t-shirts have this technique in the chest
area, creating a beautiful visual effect.
We can see this technique even in footwear, creating one
of the great trends of summer, barefoot sandals with padded effect straps.
Ideal looks for summer with draped garments
Now, what is the best way to combine pieces that follow
this timeless trend?
Next, I show you some style examples so that you can
create the best outfits for any summer plan.
Look 1 :
draped sandals are the perfect accessory to add a touch of sophistication to a
casual touch. They are perfect with any style, combine them with a flared
thigh-high skirt and a basic t-shirt and get a perfect outfit for any date.
Look 2 :
take your favorite draped sandals back and pair them with a wide leg jean, be
it a wide leg or a mom fit, and an ecru blazer waistcoat. Perfect for a
summer dinner.
Look 3 :
get a pastel gingham draped mini skirt and break its sweetness with a rock
t-shirt and lace-up boots, you will be impressive.
Look 4 :
again a draped plaid skirt, but in this case opt for a set with a matching
vest. This type of total looks give a lot of play, since you can get a
casual look with a glamorous touch if you combine it with a basic white t-shirt
and sports shoes of the same color, while if you opt for a lingerie top and
high-heeled sandals you will have a groomed look perfect for any event.
Look 5 :
if we go for a longer cut skirt, the best option is a midi cut with draping on
one side, almost at the height of the hips. Combine it with a tank top
with shoulder pads and some converse-style boot trainers and you'll be perfect
for any summer plan.
What is your favorite style? I think I could not
have just one.
